In March of 2020, I remember sitting on my living room couch, watching the news to find out we wouldn't be returning to school after spring break. The disease of COVID 19 had reared it's ugly head in the state of Texas. A few months prior to this world wide crisis, I had been planning on starting my own part time tutoring business. I had professional pictures taken, created a website, and created the perfect little nook in my dining room where I would be teaching.
But I became very anxious about following through with my vision, being that the whole country was about to go into lock down. After analyzing every reason not to move forward, something awoke inside of me. This was the perfect time to start a tutoring business. I could be the the support system for so many families dealing with such uncertainty in education. I decided to take a leap of faith and proceed. I launched my website and began spreading the word to parents I knew from my many years of teaching.
Fast forward, its been four years since I started this journey. I stepped out of my comfort zone, trusting God that all things would work together. I started out tutoring 4 students at my dining room table and now I have a brick and mortar location! I have always enjoyed teaching children, but now I am able to establish a deeper connection with my students by giving them individualized attention, and bridging the gaps that so many of our children have experienced during this pandemic. I have received confirmation over and over again that this is exactly where God wants me to be. Every time I would doubt myself, I would receive an email or a phone call from a parent desperate for help for their child. I even had a parent cry during a phone call, feeling hopeless because her child had fallen so behind. I knew there was a call and I needed to respond.
After teaching for 11 years and being in education for 16 years, I decided to walk confidently in this new chapter of my life. As of June of 2022, I have been tutoring full time! After years of working with kids in many different capacities, I know that all of my experiences have thoroughly prepared me for such a time as this.
